Division of Motor Vehicles- Notice of Proposed Regulations

NOTICE OF PROPOSED CHANGES ON LANGUAGE CLEANUP, PERSONALIZED PLATES AND SALVAGE TITLE
IN THE REGULATIONS OF DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION

The Division of Motor Vehicles proposes to adopt regulation changes in Title 2 of the Alaska Administrative Code, dealing with language cleanup, personalized plates and salvage title, including the following:

1) 2 AAC 90.420: the proposed amendment would reflect that a medical certificate is not always required for a CDL applicant.
2) 2 AAC 92.120: the proposed amendment would specify procedures for issuance and surrender of personalized registration plates.
3) 2 AAC 92.190: the proposed amendment would add a new section of regulation authorizing DMV to issue salvage title for a wrecked or junk vehicle.

You may comment on the proposed regulation changes, including the potential costs to private persons of complying with the proposed changes, by submitting written comments to Jayson Whiteside, 4001 Ingra Street, Suite 101 Anchorage, AK 99503. Additionally, the Division of Motor Vehicles will accept comments by electronic mail at Jayson.whiteside@alaska.gov. The comments must be received not later than 4:30 p.m. on December 9, 2024.

You may submit written questions relevant to the proposed action to Jayson Whiteside by email (jayson.whiteside@alaska.gov), or by mail at 4001 Ingra St., Suite 101, Anchorage, Alaska 99503. The questions must be received at least 10 days before the end of the public comment period. The Department of Administration, Division of Motor Vehicles will aggregate its response to substantially similar questions and make the questions and responses available on the Alaska Online Public Notice System and www.doa.alaska.gov/dmv.

After the public comment period ends, the Division of Motor Vehicles will either adopt the proposed regulation changes or other provisions dealing with the same subject, without further notice, or decide to take no action. The language of the final regulation may be different from that of the proposed regulation. You should comment during the time allowed if your interests could be affected.

Fiscal information: The proposed regulation changes are not expected to require an increased appropriation.
