Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Southeast Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:
APPLICANT: HALUTU SKY WALK LLC
PROJECT NAME: LAS 35256
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Within the Haines State Forest near Taiya Inlet, Legislatively Designated Area by Alaska Statute 41.15.300 including Special Use Designation ADL 106858.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Sections 13 and 24, Township 29 South, Range 59 East, Copper River Meridian
REQUESTED ACTIVITY: Halutu Sky Walk LLC has applied for a Land Use Permit from the Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Mining, Land and Water (DMLW) for the day use of state-owned tidelands, submerged lands, and uplands in Taiya Inlet and the Haines State Forest. The proposed activity would include the use of a mooring buoy or a 10'x30' floating dock (depending upon access needs), two (2) 12'x12' temporary seasonal weather shelters and one (1) 4'x8' gear shed, one via ferrata climbing route with roughly 500 vertical feet off a rock buttress, and one foot path from the top of the buttress back down to sea level. The site will be accessed by boat and will be closed off to the public due to safety reasons. The activity would occur seasonally from May to September. The requested permit term is 5 years.

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at the Southeast Regional Land Office, 400 Willoughby Avenue/PO Box 111020, Juneau, AK 99811-1020 on or before 5:00 PM on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
