Nanushuk Drillsite B

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) has made a preliminary decision to approve Oil Search (Alaska), LLC’s application for Air Quality Control Minor Permit AQ1564MSS03 for the Nanushuk Drillsite B.  

Applicant:      Oil Search (Alaska), LLC

Location:       Latitude 70° 20' 6.938" North; Longitude 150° 38' 0.184" West
                        Prudhoe Bay, Alaska

Activity:         Oil Search (Alaska), LLC applied for a minor permit under 18 AAC 50.508(6) to revise or rescind terms and conditions of a Title I permit. The project is also classified under 18 AAC 50.508(5) for Owner Requested Limits (ORLs) to avoid PSD review under 18 AAC 50.306, and 18 AAC 50.502(b)(3) for a rock crusher with a rated capacity of 5 tons or greater per hour.

Emissions:     The potential annual emissions of regulated air pollutants at the stationary source will not exceed: 171.81 tons of Nitrogen Oxides, 84.95 tons of Carbon Monoxide, 15.60 tons of Particulate Matter, 51.26 tons of Sulfur Dioxide, 80.83 tons of Volatile Organic Compounds, 116,883 tons of Carbon Dioxide Equivalent emissions, and 1.34 tons of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAP), with highest individual HAP (methanol) estimated at 0.27 tons. The total annual potential emissions of regulated air pollutants, other than greenhouse gases, are 404.45 tons.

ADEC Preliminary Review:  Based on review of the application, ADEC drafted a preliminary permit decision for this project under AS 46.14 and 18 AAC 50.

Opportunity for Public Participation: Any interested person may present written statements relevant to the preliminary decision within 30 days after the first publication date. ADEC will consider all comments received and make any changes ADEC finds beneficial or necessary to assure compliance with 18 AAC 50 or state law. ADEC will issue a final decision to issue or deny the permit after the close of the public comment period.
