ALASKA POLLUTANT DISCHARGE ELIMINATION SYSTEM (APDES)

PRELIMINARY DRAFT GENERAL PERMIT

TO DISCHARGE TO WATERS OF THE UNITED STATES

ADEC has prepared an APDES preliminary draft general permit for Wastewater Discharges from Drinking Water Treatment Facilities. The Preliminary Draft Permit and associated documents are available to the applicant for a 10-day review. Following the close of the 10-day applicant review period, DEC will prepare a draft permit and fact sheet for a formal 30-day public review period. Public comments will be accepted during the formal 30-day review period. Applicant:      Statewide drinking water treatment facilities

Proposed Project and Location:

Discharge of backwash and reject water from conventional/direct, membrane filtration, or ion exchange drinking water treatment systems to fresh or marine surface waters throughout the State of Alaska. Discharge shall be in accordance with the effluent limits, monitoring requirements, and other conditions set forth in AKG380000.

The APDES preliminary draft permit, fact sheet, and associated documents are available for public review at the DEC offices located in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Soldotna, and Wasilla. Please contact the office of your choice to arrange for hard copies of the documents to be available for your review.
