NOTICE OF WATER RIGHT APPLICATION

Pursuant to AS 46.15.133 and 11 AAC 93.080, notice is hereby given that Alyeska Resort Operations LP, PO Box 249, Girdwood, Alaska 99587 applied for a water right on July 25, 2023 (Priority Date). The application proposes the following:

To withdraw up to 720,000 gallons per day, subject to a maximum combined seasonal limit of 86,400,000 gallons from May 15 through September 15 for an open-loop cooling system for the Alyeska Hotel. Water will be discharged to the hotel pond, which flows into an unnamed stream adjacent to the hotel.

The water source is 3 existing wells withdrawing from the same unconfined aquifer between 24 feet to 46.85 feet below ground surface in Alaska State Land Survey (ASLS) 74-131 Girdwood Airport, recorded in the Anchorage Recording District as Plat 75-42, Section 9, Township 10 North, Range 2 East, Seward Meridian.

The proposed place of use is the Alyeska Hotel in Fragment Lot 1, Alyeska Resort Subdivision, Tract 1 as depicted in Plat 2013-23, Anchorage Recording District.

Per AS 46.15.133 (a), within 15 days of publication or service of notice, persons may file with the director written objections. Comments or objections must be made in writing to the above listed address or by email to lesli.schick@alaska.gov by 5:00 p.m. April 22, 2024.

Objection must include the objector’s name and address, and any facts tending to show that the rights of the objector or the public interest would be adversely affected by the proposed appropriation.
