ALASKA POLLUTANT DISCHARGE ELIMINATION SYSTEM (APDES)
PROPOSED FINAL INDIVIDUAL PERMIT
TO DISCHARGE TO WATERS OF THE UNITED STATES
Following the close of a 30-day public notice period, DEC has prepared an APDES proposed final individual permit for the Kodiak Wastewater Treatment Facility. Prior to making the final decision to issue the individual permit, DEC invites you to view the proposed final individual permit and associated documents. Proposed Permit Coverage:
Facility Activity: The discharge of secondary treated domestic wastewater from the Kodiak Wastewater Treatment Facility at a maximum rate of 6.2 million gallons per day.
Discharge Location: Woody Island Channel at 57° 48.172’ north latitude and 152° 20.919’ west longitude
Mixing Zone: Mixing zones are proposed for fecal coliform bacteria, total ammonia as nitrogen, copper, temperature, and whole effluent toxicity. The proposed chronic mixing zone measures 77 meters long and 40 meters wide. The proposed acute mixing zone, contained within the chronic mixing zone, measures 29 meters long and 39 meters wide.
Determination:
The DEC has determined to reissue the above listed general permit.
