NOTICE OF PROPOSED CHANGES ON UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE IN THE REGULATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The Department of Labor and Workforce Development proposes to change regulations related to work search requirements for unemployment insurance claimants and technical verbiage for the division’s labor exchange system.
The Department of Labor and Workforce Development proposes to adopt regulation changes in Title 8 of the Alaska Administrative Code, dealing with unemployment insurance, including the following:
- 8 AAC 85 is proposed to be changed as follows:
- AAC 85.351 is amended to omit the words “Alaska Labor Exchange System” and replace them with “the division’s labor exchange system.”
- AAC 85.352 is amended to require claimants to perform work searches based on the population and labor market of the area in which they reside. It also broadens the definition of work searches by adding the word “activity” and therefore provides claimants more opportunities to meet the requirement.
