NOTICE OF PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE BOARD OF CHIROPRACTIC EXAMINERS REGULATIONS REGARDING STATE EXAMINATIONS AND CONTINUING EDUCATION

Brief Description: The Board of Chiropractic Examiners (Board) proposes to adopt regulation changes on state examination and continuing education requirements.

The Board proposes to adopt regulation changes in Title 12, Chapter 16 of the Alaska Administrative Code, dealing with updating regulations on the Alaska state examination for chiropractors and clarifying continuing education requirements for recent graduates, including the following:

  1. 12 AAC 16.030; 12 AAC 16.033; 12 AAC 16.130; 12 AAC 16.150; and 12 AAC 16.170, are proposed to be amended to remove references to application deadlines for examination scheduling and outdated examination information.
  2. 12 AAC 16.200. Temporary permits, is proposed to be amended to remove an outdated reference to 12 AAC 16.030(a), due to proposed repeal and readoption.
  3. 12 AAC 16.030; and 12 AAC 16.390, proposed to be amended to eliminate the need for recent graduates of a college or school of chiropractic to complete continuing education requirements for initial licensure if licensed in another jurisdiction, and allow those applying for reinstatement to be granted a hardship waiver, as determined by the board.

Box 110806, Juneau, AK  99811-0806. Additionally, the Board will accept comments by facsimile at (907) 465-2974 and by electronic mail at RegulationsAndPublicComment@alaska.gov. Comments may also be submitted through the Alaska Online Public Notice System by accessing this notice on the system at http://notice.alaska.gov/214628, and using the comment link. The comments must be received not later than 4:30 p.m. on April 22, 2024.

The Board will aggregate its response to substantially similar questions and make the questions and responses available on the Alaska Online Public Notice System and on the Board's website: https://www.commerce.alaska.gov/web/cbpl/ProfessionalLicensing/BoardofChiropracticExaminers.aspx.

After the public comment period ends, the Board will either adopt the proposed regulation changes or other provisions dealing with the same subject, without further notice, or decide to take no action. The language of the final regulation may be different from that of the proposed regulation. You should comment during the time allowed if your interests could be affected.

Fiscal Information: The proposed regulation changes are not expected to require an increased appropriation.
