RFP 2024-0500-0271 GREAT Alaska Special Education Professional Development Project - Coaching Trainer

RFP 2024-0500-0271 GREAT Alaska Special Education Professional Development Project - Coaching Trainer

The Department of Education and Early Development, Division of Innovation and Education Excellence is seeking for a Coaching Trainer who will train teacher coaches from select districts and provide support to the coaches through the duration of the project. The Coaching Trainer will be responsible for evaluating fidelity of implementation in his or her assigned coaches.

Teacher coaches will actively engage in an extensive series of training sessions facilitated by the Coaching Trainer, where they will not only undergo coaching but also witness the trainer serving as a model. In the capacity of a Coaching Trainer, there is a critical responsibility to guarantee the proficiency of coaches in assessing the faithful implementation of evidence-based practices. This is achieved through meticulous inter-rater reliability checks. It is imperative that this verification process is conducted before the teacher coach independently assesses the implementation by paraprofessionals within the cohort.

The Coaching Trainer holds a pivotal role in the ongoing development of teacher coaches. Beyond the training sessions, the Coaching Trainer is tasked with providing essential support to teacher coaches. This assistance is twofold: teacher coaches receive guidance from the Coaching Trainer, and in turn, they are expected to extend this support to their district's cohort of paraprofessionals. The primary focus is on fostering the consistent and faithful implementation of evidence-based practices within the educational context. The Coaching Trainer plays a central role in shaping the capabilities of teacher coaches and ensuring the successful transmission of effective coaching practices throughout the program.
