Public Notice for 2023 Shore Fishery Lease Applications

Public Notice

 

The Shore Fishery Leasing Program within the Department of Natural Resources is evaluating shore fishery lease new applications and amendment applications submitted during the 2023 application period.  The public is welcome to review and comment on the proposed actions. To review the new application materials and view the associated maps, please visit the Shore Fishery Leasing Program website at: https://dnr.alaska.gov/mlw/shore/ and click on the 2023 Applications link under the Shore Fishery Index. Please follow the directions outlined at the end of this notice to submit any comments or protests. The Public Notice period begins December 15, 2023, and the deadline to submit written comments or protests is on or before January 31, 2024. Only those who submit timely written comments may appeal a decision.

 

This public notice includes the following lease applications within the described fishing districts:

Bristol Bay

 

  Ugashik District  

 

  Lisa Albecker, ADL 25341 (Amendment)

The proposed lease amendment is to split the 300-foot net in Tract G of ADL 25341 into two 150 foot High Water/Low Water lengths, maintaining one in the original location and relocating the other net approximately 600 feet north within Section 9, T31S, R50W, Seward Meridian, Alaska. Located in Bristol Bay, on the Ugashik River, directly west of the village of Ugashik.

 

 

 Naknek-Kvichak District

 

Philip Whitley, ADL 201513 (Amendment)

The proposed lease amendment is to split the 300-foot net in Tract A of ADL 201513 into two 150 foot High Water/Low Water nets and relocate shoreward of its current location, located in Bristol Bay on the north shore of Kvichak Bay and approximately 1 mile southwest of the mouth of Copenhagen Creek, within protracted Section 26, T15S, R48W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

 

 Ronald Hoffman, ADL 201666 (Amendment)

The proposed lease amendment is to combine the two 150-foot nets in Tract A and D of ADL 201666 into one 300 foot High Water/Low Water net and relocate approximately 3,800 feet to the southwest. Located in Bristol Bay on the north shore of Kvichak Bay approximately 4,000 feet southwest of the mouth of Copenhagen Creek, within protracted Sections 25 & 26, T15S, R48W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

 

Chandler Hoffman, ADL 203033 (Amendment)

The proposed lease amendment is to split the 300-foot net in Tract K of ADL 203033 into two 150 foot High Water/Low Water nets. One net is proposed to remain in the location of Tract K, and the second net is proposed to be placed directly east of Tract K. Located in Bristol Bay on the north shore of Kvichak Bay and approximately 3/4 mile southwest of the mouth of Copenhagen Creek, within protracted Section 25, T15S, R48W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

 

Spencer Moore, ADL 203485 (Amendment)

The proposed lease amendment is to amend and relocate the two 150-foot nets in Tracts I & J of ADL 203485 into two 150 foot High Water/Low Water lengths approximately 1,800 feet northeast of the original location. Located in Bristol Bay on the north shore of Kvichak Bay at the mouth of Copenhagen Creek, within protracted Section 25, T15S, R48W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

 

Calvin Hoffman, ADL 234243

The proposed lease is for two 150-foot HW/LW nets located in Bristol Bay on the west shore of Kvichak Bay, approximately 3,000 feet southwest from the mouth of Copenhagen Creek, within protracted Section 25, T15S, R48W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

 

Crystal Hoffman, ADL 234242

The proposed lease is for two 150-foot HW/LW nets located in Bristol Bay on the west shore of Kvichak Bay, approximately 750 feet southwest from the mouth of Copenhagen Creek, within protracted Section 25, T15S, R48W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

 

Derek Valentine, ADL 234263

The proposed lease is for two 150-foot nets located in Bristol Bay on the west side of Kvichak Bay, approximately 2.6 miles southwest of Telephone Point and directly west of Graveyard Point, within protracted Section 14, T15S, R47W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

 

Alec Capps, ADL 234266

The proposed lease is for two 150-foot nets located in Bristol Bay on the west side of Kvichak Bay, approximately 2.7 miles southwest of Telephone Point and directly west of Graveyard Point, within protracted Section 14, T15S, R47W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

 

Greta Horn, ADL 234259

The proposed lease is for one 300-foot net located in Bristol Bay on the east side of Kvichak Bay and south of the mouth of the Naknek River, within protracted Section 17, T17S, R47W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

 

Tucker Johnson, ADL 234258

The proposed lease is for two 150-foot HW/LW nets located in Bristol Bay on the west side of Kvichak Bay, approximately 1.5 miles southwest of Copenhagen Creek, within protracted Sections 26 & 35, T15S, R48W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

 

Geffrey Werning, ADL 234257

The proposed lease is for two 150-foot nets located in Bristol Bay on the west side of Kvichak Bay, approximately 3.8 miles southwest of Telephone Point, within protracted Section 22, T15S, R47W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

 

Eric Todd, ADL 234254

The proposed lease is for two 150-foot HW/LW nets located in Bristol Bay on the west side of Kvichak Bay, approximately 1.8 and 1.6 miles southwest of the mouth of Copenhagen Creek, within protracted Sections 34 & 35, T15S, R48W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

 

Kyle Swanson, ADL 234253

The proposed lease is for two 150-foot nets located in Bristol Bay on the west side of Kvichak Bay, approximately 2.5 miles southwest of Telephone Point and directly west of Graveyard Point, within protracted Section 14, T15S, R47W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

 

Ryan Geagel, ADL 234250

The proposed lease is for one 300-foot HW/LW net located in Bristol Bay on the west side of Kvichak Bay, approximately 1 mile southwest of the mouth of Copenhagen Creek, within protracted Sections 26 & 35, T15S, R48W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

Nushagak District

 

William Christensen, ADL 230964 (Amendment)

The proposed lease amendment is to split the 300-foot HW/LW net in Tract A of ADL 230964 into two 150 foot High Water/Low Water nets. One net is proposed to remain in the location of Tract A, and the second net is proposed to be placed approximately 1,580 feet southeast of Tract A. Located in Bristol Bay on the west shore of the mouth of the Igushik River, within protracted Sections 5 & 8, T17S, R58W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

 

Norman Gloko, ADL 234211

The proposed lease is for two 150 foot HW/LW nets located in Bristol Bay on the east shore of the mouth of the Igushik River, within protracted Sections 4 & 5, T17S, R58W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.

 

Kodiak

 

    Uganik District

Susan Jeffery, ADL 234265

The proposed lease is for two 900-foot nets located in Uganik Bay on the north shore of Uganik Passage, within Section 35, T26S, R26W and protracted Section 1, T27S, R26W, Seward Meridian, Alaska.
