COMMERCIAL FISHERIES ENTRY COMMISSION
REVISED NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
The Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission (the Commission) is holding a public meeting on December 21 in Juneau, Alaska from 9:00am to 10:30am via Zoom. The call in number is +1 907-202-7104, and the meeting ID is 399515544#. This is a listen-in only meeting. No public comment will be taken.
This meeting will be held to discuss the following:
- Final consideration on a petition to limit the Prince William Sound (PWS) commercial shrimp pot fishery (P09E) and (P91E).
- A review of permitting minors in fisheries [revised December 14, 2023].
- A review of upcoming regulatory changes the commission is considering.
The Limited Entry Act (the act) limits the number of commercial fishing permits allowed to operate within designated fisheries in Alaska. The Commission was established in 1973 in order to administer the act (AS 16.43.010). The stated purpose of the act is to promote the conservation and sustained yield management of Alaska’s fishery resources as well as the economic health and stability of the commercial fishing industry in Alaska.
