Odiak Slough Culvert Replacement

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is soliciting comments on the proposed improvements at Odiak Slough in Cordova. DOT&PF plans to replace three existing failing 42-inch diameter steel culverts at Odiak Slough with an aluminum fish passage culvert system between the Odiak Lagoon and Odiak Slough at approximately MP 1.3 on the Copper River Highway.

We are currently working on conceptual designs, engineering, and environmental studies. Construction is currently planned for fall 2025.

DOT&PF requests information and comments on resources in the project area that may be affected including historic properties, archaeological sites, wetlands, and Copper River floodplains.

The following Executive Orders (EO) apply:

EO 12898, Environmental Justice
EO 11593, Protection and Enhancement of the Cultural Environment
EO 11988, Floodplain Management
EO 13112, as amended by EO 13751, Invasive Species

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by the Alaska DOT&PF pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated April 13, 2023, and executed by the FHWA and DOT&PF.
