The State of Alaska, Department of Corrections is soliciting proposals for an individual or firm to provide NCCER Carpentry Level 1 classes to inmate students at four (4) correctional centers within the State of Alaska.
The aim in offering NCCER Carpentry Level 1 classes is to provide inmate students hands-on experience and foundational knowledge and technical skills in constructing permanent structures. Through this class, students will experience the planning phases of construction, practice safe and efficient handling of industry tools, perform the necessary training objectives and see a project through its completion. Students’ involvement should provide them the skills and experience necessary to connect with industry employers and obtain entry level employment into the carpentry trade upon release.
