The Alaska Community Forest Council (ACFC) is holding its August meeting in Fairbanks on Thursday and Friday, August 10th and 11th, 2023. On Thursday, August 10th, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., field visits will be conducted to community forestry and green infrastructure projects in the Fairbanks area. On Friday, August 11th,the ACFC business meeting will take place from 8:30 to 12:30 in the large conference room at the Division of Forestry offices at 3700 Airport Way. Agenda items include Division of Forestry & Fire Protection State and Federal updates, committee updates, ongoing and proposed grants, and other items relevant to council business. There will be additional field trips on Friday afternoon following the business meeting.
The council is a nonprofit organization and advisory body to the Division of Forestry & Fire Protection that works to improve Alaskans’ quality of life by expanding and caring for urban and community forests. The council promotes the management of trees and forests within communities to maximize the economic, environmental, and social benefits that trees provide.
