PUBLIC NOTICE
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is proposing to relinquish Alaska Statehood Act (Pub. L. 85-508) land entitlement selections under the following federal programs:
The Consolidated Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2023 (Pub. L. 117-328) and the University of Alaska Fiscal Foundation Act provides that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) may convey up to 360,000 acres of land to the University of Alaska. The land available for conveyance has been selected by the State of Alaska pursuant to Section 6(b) of the Alaska Statehood Act. These lands have not been conveyed to the State and are currently Federal lands. Relinquished State land selections will be conveyed by BLM to the University of Alaska. The 2019 John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act (Pub. L. 116-9) provides that eligible Alaska Native Vietnam Veterans may apply for allotments of up to 160 acres of land that the State has selected pursuant to Section 6(b) of the Alaska Statehood Act. These lands have not been conveyed to the State and are currently Federal lands. Relinquished State land selections will be conveyed by BLM to the Veterans. Relinquishment of state entitlement land selections under each federal program will be ongoing and will be noticed as parcels or in larger groups of lands over the next five years. Public notice and any future decisions related to State entitlement land selection relinquishments will be available on the State of Alaska online public notice portal: http://aws.state.ak.us/OnlinePublicNotices/. Interested parties are encouraged to subscribe to the portal to ensure receipt of all notices.
Alaska Statute (AS) 38.05.035 allows for disposals of interests in state lands, and AS 38.05.945 provides procedures for notice of those disposals.
