Project #: Z621710000/ STP-0002(163)
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is soliciting comments and information for a proposed project to improve the Shageluk Airport Access Road in Shageluk, Alaska. The purpose of this project is to maintain access from the City of Shageluk to the state-owned airport to improve driving safety. The proposed project consists of reconstructing 2.7 miles of the existing Airport Access Road, starting at the north bank of Hamilton Slough (aka Shageluk Slough) and ending at the airport apron.
The project will include:
- Road realignment
- Relocation of an electric power transmission line
- Resurfacing of the roadway with 9-inches of crushed surface course
- Reconstruct approximately 800’ of riprap erosion protection along the Innoko riverbank
Material will be temporarily stockpiled on a staging area located in an upland site. The project proposes to use a commercial quarry. This quarry is located on the east side of the Innoko River, approximately 4.5 river miles from Shageluk Airport.
DOT&PF request information and comments on resources in the project area that may be affected including historic properties, archaeological sites, wetlands, and encroachment in Innoko River floodplains. The following Executive Orders (EO) apply:
