Edna Bay Parlay Two Timber Sale Forest Land Use Plan

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Fire Protection (DOF), gives formal notice per 11 AAC 02 (Appeals) that the Division has adopted a site-specific Forest Land Use Plan (FLUP) under AS 38.05.112 and the administrative standards of AS 41.17.060 for the commercial timber sale(s): Edna Bay Parlay Two Timber Sale (SSE-1342-2).

The FLUP is intended to provide the best available information regarding the proposed timber harvest on 340 acres and the management of other non-timber uses in compliance with AS 38.05.112 and AS 41.17.060, and must be adopted by the DOF before the proposed activity can occur. The Division signed the FLUP and it has been issued on May 4, 2023. Copies of the FLUP are available for review at the division’s Area Office, the division’s web site and the State Online Public Notice System at:

This timber sale is located on Kosciusko Island, centered approximately two miles west of the City of Edna Bay.  The legal description of the sale area is within Sections 31 and 32 of Township 68 South, Range 76 East, and Sections 1 and 2 of Township 69 South, Range 76 East, all in Copper River Meridian.  Access to the sale area is by a log transfer facility in Section 34 and from existing road systems.

An eligible person affected by this decision, and who provided timely written comment to the department, may appeal the decision to the DNR Commissioner per AS 44.37.011 and 11 AAC 02. Any appeal must be received within twenty (20) calendar days after issuance of this decision under 11 AAC 02.040. An eligible person must first appeal a decision to the Commissioner before seeking relief in superior court. The Alaska State Courts establish its own rules for timely appealing final administrative orders and decisions of the department.

Appeals must be accompanied by the fee established in 11 AAC 05.160(d)(6), which has been set at $200 under the provisions of 11 AAC 05.160 (a)-(b).

If no request for reconsideration is filed by that date, this decision goes into effect as a final order and decision on May 25, 2023.
