In cooperation with the Alaskan Region Airports Division of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is soliciting comments and information on a proposal to construct a Snow Removal Equipment Building (SREB) and a Deicing Material Storage Building (DMSB) at the Valdez Pioneer Field (VDZ) Airport. The existing SREB is in poor condition and undersized for current airport needs. The proposed work would include:
- Hazardous building materials evaluation of the existing SREB prior to demolition
- Geotechnical investigation with limited environmental sampling
- Demolish existing SREB
- Construct new 9,000-square-foot heated SREB
- Relocate lighting controls
- Install new backup generator
- Install new external heating fuel tank at new SREB
- Construct new 2,400-square-foot heated DMSB
- Install new external heating fuel tank at DMSB
- Utility line connections for new SREB and DMSB
