The Alaska Judicial Council will hold a public hearing on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 12:30 p.m., to receive comments about the applicants for a Fairbanks Superior Court judicial vacancy. Members of the public are invited to participate in person at the Rabinowitz Courthouse, Courtroom 203, 101 Lacey Street, Fairbanks, Alaska or by calling toll free 1-888-788-0099 with Meeting ID 258 855 7786.
The hearing will be preceded at 12:00 p.m. by a brief informational presentation about the criteria and procedures used by the Judicial Council to evaluate applicants’ relative qualifications.
The Council will meet in Fairbanks on May 18, 2023, to interview all the applicants and nominate the most qualified for the vacancy, and to discuss administrative matters. This Fairbanks judicial vacancy is due to the forthcoming retirement of Judge Paul R. Lyle.
The Alaska Judicial Council’s mission is to screen and nominate judicial applicants, evaluate the performance of judges, and make evaluation information and recommendations available to the voters, and conduct studies and make recommendations to improve the administration of justice.
