On December 16, 2022, the Board of Dental Examiners adopted regulation changes in Title 12, Chapter 28 of the Alaska Administrative Code. The regulations implement changes to the occupational licensing requirements for dentist and dental hygienists, including allowing for the advanced practice permit for dental hygienists, in response to legislative amendments to AS 08.32 and 08.36 under ch. 56, SLA 2022 (SB 173).

The regulation changes were reviewed and approved by the Department of Law, signed and filed by the Lieutenant Governor (or designee) on February 3, 2023, and will go into effect on March 5, 2023. See attached copy of the filed version of the regulations.

The new regulation changes will be printed in Register 245, April 2023 of the Alaska Administrative Code.
