Purpose:
Beginning in 2023, the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will be hosting quarterly informational meetings with Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) Regional and Village Corporations and Alaska Tribes.
The first meeting will be held virtually on February 14, 1-3 pm AKST.
The intent of these meetings is to provide updates on DEC’s ongoing operations within the divisions of Air, Water Quality, Environmental Health, and Spill Prevention & Response. Topics of discussion will include current project and community development permitting, regulations, hiring, environmental justice, and other informational outreach. These meetings will serve as a springboard for further discussion between DEC’s divisions and Alaska Natives as transparent communication occurs early and often throughout DEC’s processes.
