NOTICE OF UTILITY APPLICATION TO RELINQUISH CERTIFICATE
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that on October 12, 2022, Adak Cablevision (ACV) filed an application to relinquish Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (Certificate) No 592. Docket No. U-22-088 was opened to address this matter.
ACV is authorized to provide cable television service in Adak, Alaska. In its application, ACV states that it last provided service under Certificate No. 592 in September 2022, and that all its subscribers have moved to streaming services.
AS 42.05.261(a) provides that a public utility may not discontinue or abandon service unless, upon application of the utility and after notice and an opportunity for hearing, the Commission finds that continued service is not required by the public convenience and necessity. In addition to the opportunity to provide comments in support of or in opposition to the application and other rights provided under 3 AAC 48.645, the Commission may schedule a hearing on ACV’s proposed relinquishment of its certificate.
