Governor’s Advisory Council on Opioid Remediation

Governor’s Advisory Council on Opioid Remediation

Draft RECOMMENDATIONS for OPIOID Abatement and Remediation settlement spending in Alaska

Per Governor Michael Dunleavy’s Administrative Order No. 324, the Governor’s Advisory Council on Opioid Remediation (GACOR) must deliver an annual report to the Commissioner of the Department of Health with input and recommendations regarding:

  • The management and allocation of the opioid remediation funds
  • A process, or improvements to the process for receiving input from communities regarding remediation strategies and responses to their specific opioid remediation needs
  • Implementing efficient, evidence-based approaches to opioid remediation statewide

The council prioritizes hearing from all Alaskans on these recommendations and the process of opioid settlement allocation and distribution. You may comment on the proposed recommendations by submitting written comments to Alaska Mental Health Board/Advisory Board on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse c/o Jenny Weisshaupt, PO BOX 110608 Juneau, AK 99811-0608. Additionally, the council will accept comments by electronic mail at jennifer.weisshaupt@alaska.gov. The comments must be received not later than 5 p.m. on September 30, 2022.

If you are a person with a disability who needs a special accommodation in order to participate in this process, please contact Jenny Weisshaupt by electronic mail at Jennifer.weisshaupt@alaska.gov or phone at (907) 465-7222 not later than September 26, 2022, to ensure that any necessary accommodations can be provided.

A copy of the recommendations is available on the Alaska Online Public Notice System and by contacting Jenny Weisshaupt by electronic mail at Jennifer.weisshaupt@alaska.gov or phone at (907) 465-7222.

After the public comment period ends, the council will review comments at its public October council meeting, and include the comments and responses as an appendix to the report submitted to the Commissioner of the Department of Health. The final report to the Commissioner and responses will be made available on the Alaska Online Public Notice System.

The council will keep a list of individuals and organizations interested in its work and recommendations. Those on the list will be sent a copy of all correspondence and invitations to council meetings. To be added to or removed from the list, send a request to Jennifer.weisshaupt@alaska.gov, giving your name, and either your e-mail address or mailing address, as you prefer for receiving notices.
