Plan of Operations and Reclamation Plan submissions for the Anarraaq and Aktigiruk Exploration Program – Phase 1

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATION

Anarraaq and Aktigiruq Exploration Program Plan of Operations Approval (F20229339POOA) and Reclamation Plan Approval (F20229339RPA) – Phase 1, Exploration Access Road, Material Sale, and Surface Pad Construction

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources has received requests to issue the Plan of Operations Approval (F20229339POOA) and the Reclamation Plan Approval (F20229339RPA) for Anarraaq-Aktigiruk Exploration Program - Phase 1 Operations for access road construction, material extraction, surface pad construction, and reclamation in the Lisburne Mining District near the communities of Kivalina and Noatak.

 

The project proponent seeks authorization for an expanded exploration program to identify sufficient mineral resources amenable to underground mining and conventional milling. This portion of the project requests surface civil construction activities to support access roads, surface pads, and material extraction. Material extracted will be sold at the representative regional sales price pursuant to AS 38.05.565(a)(3)(A).

 

This notice is pertaining to the Department’s review and adjudication of the Plan of Operations and the Reclamation Plan. The Plan of Operations are pursuant to Alaska Statutes 38.05 (Alaska Land Act) and the 11 AAC 86.800 (Plan of Operations). Extraction and use of material under the Plan of Operations is authorized under AS 38.05.565, Sale or Disposal of Materials for Special Purposes. The Reclamation Plan is pursuant to Alaska Statutes 27.19 (Reclamation) and the Alaska Administrative Code, Title 11 (Natural Resources) and Chapter 97 (Mining Reclamation).

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: These plan approvals are for activities upon State managed lands as listed:

 

Sections 11 through 15, 22 through 24, 36, Township 32 North, Range 19 West Kateel River Meridian

Sections 11 through 14, Township 31 North, Range 19 West Kateel River Meridian

 

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: TAI proposes extracting material for the construction of an access road to the Anarraaq/Aktigiruq deposit and the construction of surface pads necessary to support future construction of surface facilities for a continuing underground exploration and drilling program.

This notice is provided to the public and the public is invited to comment on this activity.
