PURPOSE: The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation, is soliciting proposals for a qualified entity to operate and manage the Big Lake North State Recreation Site, Big Lake South State Recreations Site, and Rocky Lake State Recreation Site (Big Lake Area State Recreation Sites) as a concessionaire.
The Contractor shall be responsible for park management, including janitorial and facility maintenance and repairs, resource protection, public services, site supervision, and fee collection.In return for operating and maintaining the park, the Contractor will be allowed to collect fees for:
Big Lake Area State Recreation Sites - overnight camping, daily parking, and firewood.
The State is willing to consider other revenue enhancing services proposed by the offeror that are recreation-related and benefit the public’s use and enjoyment of the park. All services to be provided must be identified in the offeror’s proposal.
PRIOR EXPERIENCE: In order for offerors to be considered responsive offerors must meet these minimum prior experience requirements: - MINIMUM REQUIREMENT 1: Previous experience operating small businesses, campgrounds or similar outdoor recreation facilities whether public or private.
- MINIMUM REQUIREMENT 2: Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of Alaska State Park campgrounds.
- MINIMUM REQUIREMENT 3: Demonstrated capacity (financial and staff capacity) to operate at a remote location.
