Airport Way (West) Improvements

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is proposing to make improvements along Airport Way between Dale Road and the Parks Highway with the addition of a pedestrian/bicycle facilities along Hoselton Road to the Boat Street path. The project includes the following elements:
- Resurfacing Airport Way from the FAI terminal to the Parks Highway eastbound ramp
- Resurfacing portions of Old Airport Road, and Wein Lake Road
- Reconstruct Dale Road and Hoselton Road
- Construction of a multi-use pathway along Dale Road, Boat Street, and Hoselton Road
- Construction of shoulders and repair/replace existing curb and gutter on Old Airport Road
- Addition of right turn auxiliary lane on Airport Way to Dale Road
- Drainage improvements
- Utilities
- Sign and guardrail replacements
- Clearing and grubbing of vegetation
- Lighting improvements
Construction on this project is anticipated to begin this summer.
The proposed project will encroach into the mapped 100-year floodplain associated with the Chena River.
The project is being developed in accordance with the following Executive Orders (EO):

Comments may be submitted until February 1, 2022
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by the Alaska DOT&PF pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated November 3, 2017 and executed by the FHWA and DOT&PF.
