The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land, and Water, Northern Region Office has received a land use permit application from U. S. Geological Survey (USGS), Alaska Science Center to continue waterfowl research in the Colville River Delta.
LOCATION
The proposed research site is located on the west bank of the Elaktoveach Channel, within the delta of the Colville River. The land is within:
Umiat Meridian, Township 13 North, Range 6 East, Sections 31
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The USGS Alaska Science Center applied to renew a land use permit for a base camp and research site on state land to conduct waterfowl research in the Colville River Delta. The site contains existing structures that includes: a steel conex on wood piling, wood storage shed, wood out-house, wood platforms for weatherports / tents, and wood boardwalks. The site will be accessed seasonally via helicopter, small-wing aircraft, and boat. The applicant requested a permit term of 10 years.

Comments must be submitted to the Division of Mining, Land, and Water, Northern Region Office in written form no later than 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2022 in order to ensure consideration.
