Notice of Utility Tariff Filings
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Alaska Waste Mat-Su, LLC d/b/a Alaska Waste (AWMS) filed TA99-731, seeking to update its residential disposal surcharge. AWMS proposes an increase of the residential disposal surcharge from 15.83 percent to 18.33 percent. The increase in AWMS' residential disposal surcharge is due to an increase in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough's (Mat-Su) disposal fees from $139.00 per ton to $143.00 per ton. The proposed disposal surcharge is calculated by multiplying the 12 month trailing disposal component by the percentage change in the disposal fee. A sample of the disposal surcharge increase can be seen in the table below.

In addition to the proposed change to the disposal surcharge, AWMS requested a waiver of the 45-day statutory notice period. Pursuant to 3 AAC 48.300, AWMS is requesting an early effective date of July 1, 2021, to allow the disposal surcharge to be effective with the July 1st increase to the Mat-Su's disposal fee.
