DEC has prepared an APDES preliminary draft permit for the University of Alaska Anderson Building Facility. The Preliminary Draft Permit and associated documents are available to the applicant for a 10-day review. Following the close of the 10-day applicant review period, DEC will prepare a draft permit and fact sheet for a formal 30-day public review period. Public comments will be accepted during the formal 30-day review period. Proposed Project and Location:
The University of Alaska – Southeast (UAS) operates the Anderson Building Facility. The Anderson Building Facility houses laboratory tanks for studying sea organisms used for academic research at the University near Juneau, Alaska. Seawater is pumped into the Anderson Building Facility from Auke Bay, flows through the tanks holding local aquatic life and is discharged without treatment to Auke Bay at one outfall located at 58.38000o North latitude and 134.64420? West longitude. No mixing zone is authorized.
