North Slope Area Plan
Notice of Intent-to-Adopt Phase

The Public Review Draft comment period for the North Slope Area Plan (NSAP) closed on August 15, 2020. The planning team reviewed the comments received on the draft plan and assembled an Issue Response Summary (IRS). The IRS provides a summary of issues raised during the comment period, a response to those issues, and a list of recommended revisions to the plan. The Public Review Draft modified by the list of recommended revisions constitutes the final plan that will be presented to the Commissioner for adoption. These documents are being made available for public review as part of an Intent-to-Adopt phase of the planning process that offers an opportunity to provide final comments on the revisions to the plan. The NSAP affects approximately 12 million acres of state-owned, state-selected, and top filed lands. The planning area encompasses the area north of the Umiat meridian between the eastern boundary of the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska and the western boundary of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The plan boundary also includes offshore areas out to the 3-mile nautical limit from the Canadian border west to Icy Cape.
