Notice of Adopted Changes in the Regulations of the Department of Environmental Conservation

NOTICE OF ADOPTED CHANGES IN THE REGULATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION

Regulations dealing with Radiation Protection were adopted by the Department of Environmental Conservation on November 2, 2020, with an effective date of January 6, 2021. The regulations have been made permanent and have been filed by the Lt. Governor. The regulations will appear in Register 237, April 2021, of the Alaska Administrative Code. The regulations changes are summarized as follows:

The regulations governing disposal of radioactive materials were amended to allow disposal of waste containing certain low-level naturally-occurring radiation in a Class I municipal solid waste landfill, drilling waste monofill, or industrial waste monofill that meets the design standards in 18 AAC 60.

The following section was amended:

18 AAC 85.300
