Brief Description: The Board of Pharmacy proposes to make permanent regulation changes made by emergency regulation regarding emergency permits and courtesy licenses for pharmacists, pharmacy interns, and pharmacy technicians.
On November 6, 2020, the Board of Pharmacy (Board) adopted, as an emergency regulation, changes in 12 AAC 52 of the Alaska Administrative Code dealing with emergency licensure to practice as a pharmacist, pharmacy intern, or pharmacy technician, including the following:
12 AAC 52.110. Emergency licensure to practice as a pharmacist, pharmacy intern, or pharmacy technician, is proposed to expand the emergency permit applications to include pharmacists, pharmacist interns, and pharmacy technicians; and to establish a new subsection to allow for emergency courtesy licenses, which pharmacists, technicians, and interns can apply for as non-residents in an urgent situation due to public health emergency or crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The emergency regulation took effect on November 19, 2020, and will expire March 18, 2021 unless made permanent. The Board intends to make the emergency regulation permanent.

The comments must be received not later than 4:30 p.m. on December 29, 2020. Comments received after this deadline will not be considered by the Board.
