Notice of Intent to Begin Engineering and Environmental Studies: Hollywood Road Pavement Preservation: Vine Road to Big Lake Road

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) has assumed the responsibilities of the Federal Highway Administration under 23 U.S.C. 327 and is soliciting comments and information on a proposal to rehabilitate and upgrade Hollywood Road from Vine Road to Big Lake Road in Wasilla, Alaska. The purpose of the proposed project is to extend the service life of the facility and enhance safety.

The proposed work would include:

Resurfacing Hollywood Road between Vine Road and Big Lake Road
Repairs to road structural sections at select locations 
Improvements to drainage facilities, including ditches and culverts
Replacement or repair of guardrail and guardrail end treatments
Replacement or repair of signs and striping
Resurface approaches/driveways
Vegetation clearing and grubbing
Utility adjustments
Geotechnical investigations

This proposed project will comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act; Executive Orders: 11990 (Wetlands Protection), 11988 (Floodplain Protection), 12898 (Environmental Justice), the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, and U.S. DOT Act Section 4(f).

Construction for the proposed project is anticipated to begin in summer 2022. To ensure that all possible factors are considered, please provide written comments to the following address by October 24, 2020.
