Land Use Permit for Riverbank Revetment on the Tanana River - LAS 33330

The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land, and Water, Northern Region Office has received a land use permit application from David Williams (Tolovana Roadhouse) for a root wad bank stabilization project on state managed shorelands of the Tanana River.  The applicant has requested a term of 2 year.

LOCATION
The proposed project is located on the north side of the Tanana River approximately 62 miles down-river from Nenana, AK; approximately 1,200 feet east of the confluence with the Tolovana River.  The shoreland is within: 
  
  Fairbanks Meridian, Township 1 South, Range 11 West, Section 6.
  
PROPOSED PROJECT
The installation of a root wad revetment to stabilize approximately 400 feet of bank on the Tanana River.  The purpose of the revetment is to protect the riverbank and adjacent private property from erosion; as well as provide important habit for salmon.  The revetment will consist of spruce root wads, stone coble, trenched willows, brush layers, and vegetative mat.  Access the site will be through the Tanana River using barge and/or river boat during construction.  The project is to begin in the fall of 2020.  

DEADLINE FOR WRITTEN COMMENTS
Comments must be submitted to the Division of Mining, Land, and Water, Northern Region Office in written form no later than 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2020 in order to ensure consideration.
