Notice of Adopted Changes to the Regulations of the Board of Nursing

On March 20, 2020, the Board of Nursing adopted, as an emergency regulation, changes in Title 12, Chapter 44 of the Alaska Administrative Code. The emergency regulations concern biennial certification of nurse aides, making the renewal date requirements more flexible to ensure that enough certified nurse aides are available during the COVID-19 pandemic. The emergency regulation took effect on March 26, 2020 and will expire July 23, 2020 unless made permanent.

On May 6, 2020, the Board of Nursing adopted the emergency regulation changes to be made permanent. The permanent emergency regulation changes were reviewed and approved by the Department of Law, signed and filed by the Lieutenant Governor (or designee) on July 9, 2020. See attached copy of the filed permanent emergency regulations.

The new regulation changes will be printed in Register 235, October 2020 of the Alaska Administrative Code.
