Request for Public Comments on the Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives, Kasaan Discovery Campus, Kasaan, Alaska.

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) is accepting public comments on the Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives for the Discovery Campus. The property is owned by the Organized Village of Kasaan (OVK) and located along the western edge of the community in Kasaan.

The Discovery Campus site contains petroleum-contaminated soil. ADEC is evaluating cleanup options for the site that would allow for safe reuse as a gathering space and park area to cultivate berry plants for subsistence harvesting by the community and site visitors.

To provide comments on the Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives, write to the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, Division of Spill Prevention and Response, Contaminated Sites Program, at P.O. Box 111800, Juneau, AK 99811-1800. Please send comments to the attention of Marc Thomas. Comments on the Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives will be accepted from June 16, 2020 through July 16, 2020 at 5:00 PM.

Comments may also be faxed to DEC at (907) 465-5245 or emailed to marc.thomas@alaska.gov.
