The Department of Education and Early Development (DEED) is seeking public comment on its proposed update to the Guide for School Facility Condition Surveys.  This new edition is a major update to the publication, which was last updated in 1997. For a copy of the previous publication version, please contact Lori.Weed@alaska.gov. Key revisions/additions to the publication include:

• Proposes a narrative style format versus the checklist -based format of the previous publication.
• Provides a building system structure that better aligns with the DEED CostFormat.
• Uses the structure to provide a template that scales from component condition surveys to whole-school condition surveys.
• Identifies a five-part structure for content as a guide for best-practice.
• Coordinates more closely with the capital improvement project (CIP) application with respect to available points.
