Notice of Utility Tariff Filing
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Homer Electric Association, Inc. (HEA), filed TA424-32, proposing to add two new cost elements to the calculation of HEA’s quarterly Cost of Power Adjustment (COPA) surcharge. The first cost element is for the recovery of costs associated with the purchase of Interruptible Storage Service from Cook Inlet Natural Gas Storage Alaska, LLC. The second cost element is to account for the margins from spot sales of excess natural gas to other entities. HEA states that the addition of these two cost elements will provide it with the flexibility to handle situations in which it has excess natural gas available. HEA states that the benefits include the opportunity to store excess gas and the opportunity to collect margins on gas sales to offset fuel costs and reduce the COPA surcharge to its members.
