Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Plan Draft
Available for Public Comment
The Department of Labor and Workforce Development invites public comment on Alaska's 2020 -2023 four-year WIOA strategic plan, developed in coordination with a variety of stakeholders. The U.S. Department of Labor requires states to submit state plans every four years.
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act is the federal program that funds state and local workforce initiatives and provides a variety of job training services for adults and youth. WIOA was created to allow states more flexibility in collaborating across systems to better address the employment and skills needs of employees, jobseekers, and employers. WIOA emphasizes sector partnerships, career pathways, cross-program data and measurement, and job-driven investments. Our state plan represents an opportunity to ensure a workforce development system that Alaskans want, and to explain how we will use WIOA and other state and federal programs to achieve that vision.
The draft plan and proposed performance measures are attached below.
