SUPPLEMENTAL NOTICE - Public Notice Extension - Reissuance of an APDES General Permit to Discharge to Waters of the US, Seafood Processors Operating Onshore Facilities in Kodiak

*** PUBLIC NOTICE EXTENSION***

On September 13, 2019, DEC published a Public Notice for the tentative decision to reissue the Seafood Processors Operating Onshore Facilities in Kodiak, Alaska General Permit (GP), permit number AKG528000. The GP covers point source discharges of seafood processing waste and wastewater and non-process wastewaters, including but not limited to: non-contact cooling water, boiler water, freshwater pressure relief water, refrigeration/freezer condensate, continuous exchange live tank water, and scrubber water. The GP would apply to discharges to several receiving waters, including Kodiak Harbor, St. Paul Harbor, Gibson Cove, Near Island Channel, Women’s Bay, and Woody Island Channel.

The public notice comment period was to expire on October 14, 2019. By request, the public notice has been extended an additional 30 days and shall now expire on November 13, 2019. Public Notice Expiration Date: November 13, 2019

Public Comments:
Written comments or requests for a public hearing on the APDES draft general permit must be submitted within 60 days of the issuance of the original public notice. Please direct written comments to the attention of Anne Weaver at the address or email identified above. All comments should include the name, address, and telephone number of the commenter and a concise statement of comment on the permit condition(s) and the relevant facts upon which the comment is based. Comments of either support or concern which are directed at specific, cited permit requirements are appreciated. Mailed comments must be postmarked on or before the expiration date of the public notice.
