The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas (Division) received a Lease Plan of Operations application from Oil Search (Alaska), LLC (OSA) dated, July 15, 2019, to authorize the development phase of the Nanushuk project within the Pikka Unit. The proposed development will be authorized under AS 38.05 and 11 Alaska Administrative Code (AAC) 83.346.  The Division is providing public notice and an opportunity to comment.

Location: Approximately seven miles northeast of the community of Nuiqsut

Project Description: OSA is requesting authorization to begin the development phase of the Nanushuk project within the Pikka Unit. The Nanushuk Project will be targeting oil in the Alpine C and Nanushuk reservoirs. The development will include three drill sites (ND-A, ND-B, and ND-C) with up to 151 total production and injection wells. Other infrastructure and facilities within the Pikka Unit will include the Nanushuk Processing Facility (NPF), infield pipelines, import and export pipelines, infield and access roads, a boat ramp and a potable water system. The project will use the Oliktok Dock for offloading barges transporting sealift modules. The Oliktok Dock will undergo screeding activities prior to activity.
