Regulations dealing with seafood processing and inspection were adopted by the Department of Environmental Conservation on July 8, 2019, with an effective date of August 21, 2019. The regulations have been made permanent and have been filed by the Lt. Governor. The regulations will appear in Register 231, October 2019, of the Alaska Administrative Code. The regulations changes are summarized as follows:
The amendments include revisions to cite federal rules which were adopted by reference, rather than using old language that was previously paraphrased based on federal rules. Amendments made the standards clearer and avoided inconsistencies between the federal requirement and the written regulations. Additional changes relating to recall plans, sanitation plans, and product sampling were also made.
