NOTICE OF PROPOSED VACATION (DISPOSAL) OF RIGHT-OF-WAY
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (the Department) proposes to vacate (sell) a small portion of the Nome Airport right-of-way (ROW) to the City of Nome, the adjacent property owner.
The parcel to be vacated is located adjacent to the Nome power plant on Nome Port Road, south of the Snake River and the Nome post office annex. It is about 2.12 acres in size, and is referred to as Lots 2 and 2B of Block 20 of the Nome Airport property. The Department has determined that the fee simple interest to be conveyed is not needed for the airport’s maintenance and/or operation and is not needed for a public purpose, but it will reserve an avigation easement. The parcel’s actual fair market value will be determined by an independent appraisal.
This disposal of ROW by the Department is authorized by AS 02.15.070.
The physical file of the proposal is available for public inspection from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Right of Way Section, 2720 Picket Place (west side of Peger Rd.), Fairbanks, Alaska. The Department will accept and review public comments regarding the proposed vacation (file CQD # 19-02-003).
Comments must be made in writing and must be received no later than 4:30 PM on the projected closing date of Monday, July 15, 2019.
