BPXA PBU Class I Waste Disposal Facility and Gravel Pad Expansion 

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas (Division) received a Unit Plan of Operations application from BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. (BPXA) dated, April 11, 2019, to authorize construction of a new gravel pad and installation of an updated Class I waste disposal facility (WDF) between Drill Site 4 (DS4) and the Fire Training Area in the Prudhoe Bay Unit (PBU).  The Division is providing public notice and an opportunity to comment.

Project Description: The existing waste disposal facilities at Pad 3 and grind and inject facility at DS4 are no longer providing adequate waste disposal operations.  BPXA proposes to build a 2.58-acre gravel pad to accommodate the installation of an updated Class I waste disposal facility.

The application package is available for review at the Division’s Permitting Section, 550 West 7th Avenue, Suite 1100, Anchorage, or online at http://dog.dnr.alaska.gov/Home/Newsroom.

Please send comments to the Division by email to dog.permitting@alaska.gov, or by regular mail to the Division address above.  All comments must be in writing.  A copy of the final decision will be sent to any person who provides written comments.  An eligible person affected by this decision who provided timely written comments on this decision may appeal or request the commissioner’s reconsideration in accordance with 11 AAC 02.

All comments must be received by the comment deadline: 4:30 pm, Alaska Standard Time, June 17, 2019.
