A&A Exploration Program
The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) proposes to issue an Air Quality Control Minor Permit AQ1444MSS01 to Teck American, Inc. (Teck) for the Anarraaq & Aktigiruq (A&A) Exploration Program.
Applicant: Teck American, Inc., P.O. Box 3087, Spokane, WA 99220
Location: Latitude: 68° 10’ 46.79” N; Longitude: 162° 57’ 52.248” W
Activity: The project is a new mineral exploration program. The minor permit is classified under 18 AAC 50.502(b)(3) for operation of a rock crusher with a rated capacity of at least five tons per hour, 18 AAC 50.502(c)(1) for construction of a new stationary source with a potential to emit greater than 40 tpy of NOx, and 18 AAC 50.508(5) to establish owner requested limits to avoid Title V permitting under 18 AAC 326.
Emissions: The potential annual emission of regulated air contaminants (including fugitive emissions) are: 85.9 tpy NOx, 112.2 tpy CO, 83.2 tpy PM, 31.9 tpy PM10, 8.6 tpy PM2.5, 29.1 tpy SO2, and 17.8 tpy VOC
ADEC Preliminary Review: Based on review of the application, ADEC drafted a preliminary permit decision for this project under AS 46.14 and 18 AAC 50.

Opportunity for Public Participation: Any interested person may present written statements relevant to the draft documents, as long as they are received within the timeframe listed below. ADEC will consider all comments received and make any changes ADEC finds beneficial or necessary to assure compliance with 18 AAC 50 or State Law. ADEC will issue a final decision to issue or deny the permit after the close of the public comment period.
