Public Open House for Glenn Highway Rehabilitation Long Lake Section: MP 84.5-92 & Kings River Bridge Replacement: MP 66.5

The Western Federal Lands Highway Division of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), in partnership with the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, is planning to realign the Glenn Highway to the south of Long Lake and replace the bridge at Kings River. The purpose of the projects is to enhance the safety of the highway and accommodate the anticipated traffic for the next 20 years.

You are invited to attend a public open house to learn about both projects and to provide feedback on the draft reevaluation of the 1993 Environmental Assessment (EA) and Section 4(f) Evaluation. Participants may attend at any time during the scheduled hours. Project team members will be available to explain the projects and answer questions.

LOCATION: Chickaloon Community Center, MP 76 of the Glenn Highway, Chickaloon Alaska

WHEN: Tuesday, February 12, 2019, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
LOCATION: Palmer High School Lower Commons 1170 West Bogard Road Palmer, Alaska

Comments are requested by March 4, 2019.

The Long Lake State Recreation Site (SRS) is identified as a Section 4(f) property. The Section 4(f) legislation as established under the U. S. Department of Transportation Act of 1966 (49 USC 303, 23 USC 138) provides protection for publicly owned parks, recreation areas, or wildlife and/or waterfowl refuges of national, state, or local significance or land of an historic site of national, state, or local significance from conversion to transportation usage. Long Lake SRS is also protected in its entirety under the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund Act, Section 6(f), Public Law 108-198.
