Notice of proposal to issue a Solid Waste Permit for the operation of an existing Class III Municipal Solid Waste Landfill, Atmautluak Traditional Council

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) has determined that the permit application for operation of an existing Class III Municipal Solid Waste Landfill, described below, is complete. ADEC is proposing to issue a solid waste permit for the facility.

Owner/Operator: Atmautluak Traditional Council
Location: Atmautluak - Approximately 15 miles northeast of the community on the east bank of the Pikmiktalik River, within Section 8, Township 9N, Range 73W, Seward Meridian.
Project Description: The landfill will serve the 302 residents of Atmautluak.  The site will include a solid waste disposal cell and burn units within a fenced area, and  a storage connex for equipment.

OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC PARTICIPATION:

ADEC is seeking comment regarding the proposed permits only. Notice is given that any person interested may present written comments relevant to the proposed permits to ADEC. Written comments will be included in the record if received before 5:00 p.m. on March 25, 2019.
