Notice of Proposal to Issue an Air Quality Control Minor Permit for Furie Operating Alaska, LLC, Julius R Platform

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) has made a preliminary decision to approve Furie Operating Alaska, LLC’s application for Air Quality Control Minor Permit AQ0982MSS11 for the Julius R Platform.

Applicant:      Furie Operating Alaska, LLC, 1029 W. 3rd Ave, Suite 500, Anchorage, AK 99501

Location:       60.935 North, 151.152 West

Activity:         Furie Operating Alaska, LLC’s application is classified under 18 AAC 50.508(6) to revise and rescind terms and conditions of an existing Title I permit. Furie Operating Alaska, LLC will be removing and replacing two natural gas generators and one diesel fired auxiliary generator.

Emissions:     The permit authorizes the following increase in potential emissions: 10.8 tpy of NOx, 2.0 tpy of PM-10/2.5, and 0.9 tpy SO. Decrease in potential emissions will be 3.0 tpy CO, and 2.4 tpy VOCs.

ADEC Preliminary Review: Based on review of the application, ADEC drafted a preliminary permit decision for this project under AS 46.14 and 18 AAC 50.

Opportunity for Public Participation: Any interested person may present written statements relevant to the draft documents, as long as they are received within the timeframe listed below. ADEC will consider all comments received and make any changes ADEC finds beneficial or necessary to assure compliance with 18 AAC 50 or State Law. ADEC will issue a final decision to issue or deny the permit after the close of the public comment period.
