NOTICE OF UTILITY PETITION TO RELINQUISH ELIGIBLE
TELECOMMUNICATIONS CARRIER DESIGNATION
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that on December 12, 2018, New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC (AT&T Mobility) filed a petition to relinquish its designation as an Eligible Telecommunications Carrier (ETC) for wireless telecommunications service in the study areas served by: ACS of Anchorage, LLC; ACS of Alaska, LLC - Greatland; ACS of Alaska, LLC - Juneau; ACS of Fairbanks, LLC; ACS of the Northland, LLC – Glacier State; Alaska Telephone Company; Copper Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc.; Ketchikan Public Utilities; and Matanuska Telephone Association. The petition clarifies that AT&T Mobility is not discontinuing its wireless service in Alaska. Docket No. U-18-106 was opened to address this matter.
In support of its petition, AT&T Mobility states that its federal high-cost universal service support in Alaska will discontinue as of September 1, 2019. AT&T Mobility notes that its current Lifeline customers may continue to receive wireless services from AT&T Mobility at standard prices or may seek to receive federal Lifeline discount from other ETCs.
