The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land & Water “Division” has received a request to extend the effective date of a land use permit authorization by 90 days (Application for Permits to Mine in Alaska #A20186118) under 11 AAC 96.040(c). This authorization is associated with the care, maintenance, and reclamation of exploration activities in the Bristol Bay Mining District, near the town of Iliamna. The related activity is located in all or portions of Townships 2-7 S, Ranges 33-39 W, Seward Meridian. The USGS 1:250,000 Quadrangle is Iliamna.
Pursuant to 11 AAC 96.040(c), “the permit may be extended for any number of consecutive periods, each period not to exceed one year.” The operator, Pebble Limited Partnership, requested an extension on the current authorization while preparing a new permit application for review by DNR. An existing performance guaranty will remain effective for the term of extension. No activities are proposed to be conducted under the extension. The applicant requested the extension to continue tenancy for temporary facilities located within the claim block.

Notification of this request to extend the effective dates of the above referenced permits is not required by AS 38.05.945 since the proposed activity does not include the disposal of a state interest and surface use necessary for the prospecting for, extraction of, or basic processing of minerals is granted to a mineral locator pursuant to AS 38.05.255(a) and Article VIII, Section 11 of the Constitution of Alaska.
